Support Back to School with the Foundation

Help us fund teaching grants and support more than 23,000 students in

Springfield Public Schools

The Facts

  • Back to School is a program of the Foundation for Springfield Public Schools which supports schools through teaching grants and School Improvement Plan (SIP) funding.
  • All certified district employees can submit grants to the Foundation in five basic categories: Technology, Equipment, Classroom Projects, Professional Development and High Impact.
  • The High Impact cateogry is a new category funded through a partnership with the Foundation for Springfield Public Schools and Community Foundation of the Ozarks for grants between $5,000 and $10,000 for high impact projects geared toward at-risk students and low-income schools.
  • Each grant submitted to the Foundation is reviewed and ranked by an allocations committee of donors, community members and Foundation board members.  Foundation staff does not serve on the allocations committee.  Grants are awarded based the ranking of the allocationscommittee and available funds.
  • School Improvement Plan (SIP) funding is awarded to each school at $2 per student enrolled and is used to help each school meet its school improvement plans set forth by the district.
  • The Back to School program is supported by generous individuals and businesses in the Springfield community who wish to improve and enhance education for the public school system.  The Foundation depends on the support of everyone in the community for a successful campaign.
  • You can donate today and support more than 23,000 students and 100% of your contribution will go right back into the classroom in September when we award 2009 grants.
